Noble men do not become conceited when fortune embraces them but use their wealth to help others.

भवन्ति नम्रा: तरव: फलोद्गमै: ,

नवाम्बुर्भूमि अवलम्बिनो घनाः ।

अनुद्धताः सत्पुरुषा समृद्धिभिः ,

स्वभाव एवैष परोपकारिणाम् ।।

( सुभाषितानि )

फलों से लदे हुए वृक्ष नीचे झुक जाते हैं ताकि लोग फलों को पा सकें । जल से भरे हुए बादल भी नीचे आकर वर्षा करके धरती को भिगो देते हैं । इसी प्रकार समृद्धि प्राप्त होने पर सज्जन लोग नम्र हो जाते हैं । क्योंकि परोपकारी लोगों का स्वभाव ही ऐसा होता है । 

Trees laden with fruits bend down so that people may pluck the fruits. Clouds laden with water come down to bring rains cooling the earth and watering plants and trees. In the same way noble men do not become conceited when fortune embraces them but use their wealth to help others. This is the nature of noble people who are always read to help others.
