Gods protect the people by giving them 'Wisdom'

न देवा: दण्डमादाय,

रक्षन्ति पशुपालवत् । 

यं तु रक्षितुम् इच्छन्ति,

बुद्ध्या संविभजन्ति तम् ।।

Gods do not hold stick in their hand, like cow-heard owner to protect the people. They confer the people with 'Wisdom' whom they want to protect from any potent danger.

देवता पशुपालकों की भाँति हाथ में दण्ड लेकर मनुष्यों की रक्षा नहीं करते । वे जिनकी रक्षा करना चाहते हैं उन्हें बुद्धि प्रदान करते हैं ।
