Crossing River of Desires gives Pure Heart & Contentment

आशानाम नदी मनोरथजला तृष्णा-तरंगाकुला ,

राग-ग्राहवती वितर्कविहगा धैर्यद्रुमध्वंसिनी ।

मोहावर्त सुदुस्तराति गहना प्रोक्तुड़्ग-चिन्तातटी,

तस्या: पारगता विशुद्धमनसो नन्दन्ति योगीश्वरा: ।।

वैराग्यशतकम् - भर्तृहरि 

आशा एक नदी है , इच्छाएँ उसका जल है, तृष्णा ( लालसा) इसकी लहरें हैं, राग ( वासना) इसके मगरमच्छ हैं , विभिन्न वस्तुओं को प्राप्त करने की इच्छाएँ  इस पर उड़ने वाले पक्षी हैं , मोह कठिनतापूर्वक पार की जाने वाली गहरी नदी का भँवर है ,  चिन्ताएँ इस नदी के ऊँचे-ऊँचे तट हैं । धैर्य रूपी वृक्ष को यह नदी जड़ से उखाड़ फेंक देती है । जिन महान सन्तों नें इस आशा रूपी नदी को तैर कर पार किया है , वे विशुद्ध मन वाले योगीश्वर प्रसन्न रहते हैं ।

Dream is like a river, wishes are like it's water, ambitions are like it's whirling waves, desires are like crocodiles, eagerness of getting everything are like flying birds over it, greeds are like whirls of this deep river which is extremely difficult to cross, concerns are like high banks of this river, trees of patience are thrown out by this river from their roots. Great saints who have crossed this river of desires, they remain happy throughout with pure heart like yogishwar
