I have collected many noble sayings (सुभाषितानि) from ancient Indian scriptures like Vedas, Puranas, Upnishadas, Valmiki Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagvad Geeta, Chanakya Neeti, Vidur Neeti, Hitopdesha, Neeti Shatkam and Panchtantram which, without any relation to the Hindu religion, give great emphasis on the moral values in leading a disciplined way of life. These noble sayings are the treasures of rich ancient Indian scriptures which were written by our great sages thousand years ago. I value them more relevant even in modern days as they were thousand years ago in our society.
Even the foreign scholars knew the value of these sayings and often quoted them in their literature. I find it appropriate to mention here a true story that when German scholar Maxmullar was busy in translating the Vedas into German language, he was invited by HMV, a German company, to inaugurate the 'Gramophone' which was invented by them. After inaugurating the machine,he was requested by Director of the company to say few words as for the first time in the history of mankind the human voice is going to be recorded on the machine. Maxmullar got excited and recited the first Mantra of Rig Veda from Agni Sukta which reads:
" ऊँ अग्निमीले पुरोहितं यज्ञस्य देवमृत्विजम् । होतारं रत्नधातमम् ।। "
This incident shows the importance given by the foreign scholars to the ancient Indian scriptures.

Acknowledging their value in modern days, I have decided to post one of such noble sayings every day on my personal Blog in their original form in Sanskrit language with English and Hindi translation so that our friends and our new generation get immensely benefited.
Though, many such noble sayings in Sanskrit with English translation are already available on the net, they are written in composite sentences with grammatical complexities which may give different meanings. I, therefore, have decided to split the Sholakas into small pieces so that the viewers can read them easily and understand their meanings. While doing so, due care has been taken to ensure the grammatically correct words in the Sholakas. Translation into English and Hindi has also been done carefully to convey the appropriate message from these sayings.
