Mother & Motherland dearer than Heaven

अपि स्वर्णमयी लंका,

न मे रोचति लक्ष्मण ।

जननी जन्मभूमिश्च ,

स्वर्गात् अपि गरीयसी ।।

( वाल्मीकि रामायण )

O Laxman..! This golden Lanka does not allure me at all, as the 'Mother' and 'Motherland' both are dearer to me than Heaven.

(Lord Rama to Laxman after conquering Lanka)

हे लक्ष्मण ! यह स्वर्णमयी लंका मुझे अच्छी नहीं लगती क्यों कि 'जननी' और 'जन्मभूमि' दोनों स्वर्ग से भी बढ़कर हैं ।

(लंका जीतने के पश्चात् भगवान राम ने लक्ष्मण से कहा )
