Hunger, Thirst and Desire are like Man's three wives

क्षुधा-तृष्टा-आशा कुटुम्बिन्या,

मयि जीवति न अन्यगा: ।

तेषाम् आशा महासाध्वी,

कदाचित् मां न मुञ्चति ।।

Hunger, Thirst and Desire are like man's three wives. Until he is alive these three will never leave him. Amongst all the three, Desire is the 'Maha Sadhvi' because she never leaves the man.

क्षुधा , तृष्णा और आशा ये तीनों मनुष्य की तीन पत्नियों के समान हैं , जो मृत्यु पर्यन्त उसका साथ छोड़ने वाली नहीं हैं ।  इन तीनों में आशा  'महासाध्वी' के समान है जो मनुष्य का साथ कभी नहीं छोड़ती ।
